Introduction
Recognized by W.H.O, IMED, FAIMER, WDOMS, MOE Hubei University of Science and Technology (HBUST) is situated in Xianning City, where Jin-Chu culture can be experienced, ancient Three-Kingdom's battle drums can be still resounding, hot springs can be enjoyed, and osmanthus fragrance can be breathed. Xianning City is considered to be south gate and back yard of Wuhan at the distance of one hour (70 Km), the capital city of   Hubei Province. At the city center, Hubei University of Science and Technology (HBUST) radiates like a beautiful pearl.
HBUST is like a roundabout of three adjacent provinces, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi,
with the distance of one hour drive to Wuhan and 1.5 hour drive to Yueyang, an important
 city of Hunan Province. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Beijing-Hongkong-Macao Freeway, Hongzhou-Ruili Freeway, Daqing Guangzhou Freeway all run through Xianning City.
The Yangtze River is only half an hour away by car.    Inter-city Metro can take people of Hubei University of Science and Technology to Wuhan within 18 minutes.

With a history of 79 years, (HBUST)
was formerly named Xianning University, a merger of Xianning Medical College (founded in 1965) and Xianning Teachers College (founded in 1937).

The two campuses with the size of 46 acres are decorated beautifully and tranquilly by abundant of Bamboo forest, osmanthus trees, and weeping willows. Lanyue Lake, nestled in the heart of Wenquan Campus, catches the reflections of
buildings with its silky water.

Staff
With a staff of 1395, HBUST has 1032 teachers among whom 112 are professors, 150 teachers have obtained doctor degree, 57 can supervise students at master degree and doctor degree levels. In addition, 3 distinguished academicians, 2 “The hundred Talents Plan” experts, 11“Chutian” Scholars, 17 “Caihong” Scholars, and 15“Lanyue” scholars are hired.
Library
HBUST Library was renamed after Xianning University Library, with a total size of
42,790 square meters; it is composed of the library in Wenquan campus and the library in
Xian’an campus.

HBUST has seven affiliated hospitals with more than 10000 beds.
First Affiliated Hospital
The First Affiliated Hospital (Xianning Central Hospital) is the national 3A level general hospital, covering an area of 201.74 acres. It was founded in 1966 and having 45 clinical and medical departments with 1200 beds.
Second Affiliated Hospital
The Second Affiliated Hospital is the national 2A level general hospital, covering an area of 53.3 acres. It was founded in 1965 and having 26 clinical and medical departments with 320 beds.

 

International Students
HBUST started enrollment of international students for MBBS from 2009. First batch of MBBS batch of international students was graduated in 2015.

Clinical Medicine/MBBS
(Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery)
The Clinical Medicine/MBBS program in Hubei University of Science and Technology is a medical education program specifically designed for international students who wish to pursue a medical bachelor degree in China. The overall goal of this program is to develop extensive medical knowledge and laid a solid foundation for their further studies in any medical branch for medical graduates. Special requirements of other countries where most students originally come from are also taken into account. The curriculum is organized in a disciplinary setting based on a school’s existing undergraduate medical education program and composed of two stages, pre-clinic and clinic stage

Hostel
The University provides accommodation to the international students. Three persons share a room with air conditioner, heater, attached bathroom, , bed with required amenities and furniture, internet access and public laundry. The hostels are given good protection by security agencies and police booths in the University.
Canteen
There are 4 cafeterias on the campus, with many different styles of food.
Sports
The University has a standard 400M synthetic-track sports field and also has various kinds of sports venues and facilities, including stadiums, venues for field events, swimming pools, and etc. A gymnasium provide students with an opportunity to do in-door physical exercises.

On campus there is a campus infirmary, Canteens, bank ATMs, campus supermarkets, laundries, book stores, etc.

Climate
The city bears a subtropical continental monsoon climate featuring rich rainfall and sunshine, and enjoys four seasons. The annual average temperature falls around 16.8℃ (62.2℉).
